At least six people have been killed when a large crowd caused congestion at the Mansa Devi temple in India, according to several Indian media outlets.

At least 25 more people are reported to have been injured.

The congestion is said to have been caused after a high-voltage power line fell over a road, which triggered panic.

According to local officials, thousands of people had gathered at the temple, which is an important site for devout Hindus.

Accidents with fatal outcomes, caused by congestion, are common in India. As recently as in June this year, at least three people were crushed to death during a Hindu festival in the state of Odisha.
