According to the analysis company Canalys, smartphones manufactured in India accounted for 44 percent of the US import of these units during the second quarter. This can be compared to 13 percent during the same period last year.
The total volume of smartphones manufactured in India increased by 240 percent compared to the previous year, according to Canalys.
CNBC writes that the increase is a consequence of manufacturing being moved from Beijing due to the uncertainty surrounding tariffs.
The share of Chinese smartphones imported to the US decreased to 25 percent during the second quarter, which can be compared to 61 percent the year before.
Even Vietnam's share of smartphone exports increased to 30 percent and was thus also higher than China's.
