Sales in the daily goods trade increased by 3 percent in December compared to December 2023.
This is shown by new figures from the industry organization Svensk Dagligvaruhandel. Adjusted for inflation, the increase was 1.3 percent.
"Christmas is one of the year's most important sales periods for the daily goods trade, and in December, the industry experienced continued stable growth. The positive development was driven primarily by store sales, as consumers to a high degree chose to buy their Christmas food in physical stores", says Karin Brynell, CEO of Svensk Dagligvaruhandel, in a press release.
