”The government proposes several measures in the budget for 2026 that aim to give more people access to culture and to Sweden's museums”, says Minister of Culture Parisa Liljestrand (The Moderate Party) in a press release and adds that 3.2 million people visit the mentioned museums every year.

The intention is, according to Liljestrand, that the museums should ”continue to carry out an activity of high quality”.

Furthermore, the government proposes to allocate three million kronor for a preliminary study on a national museum card with the purpose of giving more people the opportunity to visit the country's museums and increased revenue for the museums. The National Association of Sweden's Museums is proposed to carry out the preliminary study.
