The Junior World Championship heroes were celebrating the gold in style. Then the news came: their return trip to Sweden had been cancelled due to a heavy snowstorm.

The newly crowned world champions secured the title against the Czech Republic with a 4–2 win.

Wild cheers erupted on the other side of the Atlantic. Team captain Jack Berglund would have loved to continue the celebration on Swedish soil.

"I really hope it happens in Stockholm," he told Expressen.

But there will be no celebration upon returning to Sweden, according to a statement from the Swedish Ice Hockey Association.

"There will be no public gold celebration on their return, but the team will be invited to the Beijer Hockey Games in Ängelholm in May to be celebrated in connection with the Tre Kronor men's home tournament."

At the same time, it is clear that the team's return trip has been canceled due to a heavy snowstorm in Amsterdam.

The team was originally scheduled to arrive at Arlanda on Wednesday morning, local time in Sweden, Aftonbladet writes.

It is currently unclear when the hockey team will be able to travel home.
