After record levels last year, the year begins with significantly fewer corporate bankruptcies.

The number of companies that went bankrupt in January decreased by 19 percent compared to the same month last year, according to the credit information company UC, which thus senses signs of an improvement.

Bankruptcies in the construction sector decreased by 15 percent. In the hotel and restaurant industry, the decline was 18 percent. These industries topped the statistics last year.

During the full year 2024, bankruptcies increased by 21 percent to the highest number, over 10,000 limited companies, since the financial crisis of the 1990s.
