The alarm came at 15.38. The rescue service has since then been working on extinguishing the fire, and has, among other things, received help from a firefighting helicopter.
The fire is not entirely under control, but we have scaled down some forces. We have changed tactics and set up mobile water cannons that make it possible for the personnel at the waste station to move the piles that have burned and extinguish with sand or lime, says Ulrik Olsson, officer on duty at the Fyrbodal rescue service at 21.30.
The rescue service expects to be able to withdraw the VMA during the evening.
There is a lot of smoke and a lot of steam, but we will soon be finishing up, says Olsson.
