IMF Raises Global Inflation Forecast for Next Year as Energy and Food Prices Climb

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) is slightly raising its forecast for global growth this year. However, inflation is expected to rise much more sharply.

Global growth this year is estimated at 3.1 percent, according to IMF economists. This is 0.1 percentage points higher than the IMF's July forecast.

Next year, global growth is estimated at 3.4 percent, in line with the IMF's July forecast.

According to the Fund's tables, Swedish growth is expected to reach 2.5 percent this year and slow to 2.2 percent in 2027.

Higher energy and food prices are expected to push global inflation to 4.7 percent this year and 4.1 percent in 2027. This year's price increases are in line with the IMF's July forecast, while next year's are 0.2 percentage points higher than previously forecast.

Swedish inflation is expected to be 1.1 percent this year and 1.9 percent next year, according to the IMF.
