IKEA sales fall for third consecutive year as company cuts prices and jobs

IKEA's sales continue to decline. For the third year in a row, the furniture company’s global sales have fallen.

Overall, global sales fell by almost one billion euros to 43.8 billion euros in the 2025/2026 financial year, which ended last August, according to several media outlets, including Dagens Industri and the Financial Times.

In percentage terms, this was a decline of 1.8 percent.

“It has been a challenging year for us. It could be the same again this year. The market is not easy,” says Jakub Jankowski, CEO of Inter IKEA, to the Financial Times.

To reverse the trend, IKEA has cut prices on a number of products, including the Billy bookcase. The company is also implementing an extensive savings programme that will eliminate several hundred positions.
