It was at halftime during the home match against Örebro in the Superettan that the club announced the name Idrottsparken would remain. The decision was made at a board meeting.
“The name must never be sold - ever. Our soul, our heritage and our history are not for sale. Period,” IFK Norrköping chairman Martin Gyllix tells NT.
The stadium was inaugurated in 1903 and has previously been called Östgötaporten and Platinumcars Arena as part of sponsorship deals.
Last week, it became clear that IFK Norrköping had secured promotion back to Sweden’s top men’s football league.
