With eight rounds remaining, Carlsson will have to leave the position of head coach, which he took before last season. In 2025, he led the team to both the cup final and a fifth-place finish in the top flight.
"It is not an easy decision, but I - with the support of the club director and the board - have judged that it is the right step to create the best possible conditions for the team during the final part of the season," says IFK Norrköping's sports director Dennis Popperyd in a statement.
Assistant coach Rob Clark will now be head coach for the remaining eight rounds of the Swedish Women's Championship. IFK Norrköping are second to last on 13 points, four points ahead of Växjö in the qualifying round.
