The sick leave is valid until further notice and is due to personal reasons, IFK Gothenburg announced on its website.
"We understand that the announcement may raise questions. However, out of consideration for the player's personal integrity, we will not be making any further comments at this time," the club further writes.
Pascal Lundqvist returned from a long injury layoff at the beginning of the summer and made a few appearances for "Blue and White" before being sidelined again.
