The stage was set for a real football party when IFK Göteborg played their home premiere in the Allsvenskan against Halmstad. And the home supporters also got to see their team win for the first time this season with 1–0.

But there was no premiere tifo.

"Resign Håkan"

Instead, the home supporters held up a banner with a clear message directed at club director Håkan Mild, who has been heavily criticized after a turbulent time in the club.

"No dialogue, no tifo – resign Håkan", it read on the banner.

During the winter, both chairman Richard Berkling and technical director Ola Larsson left their posts after massive criticism and double failed seasons, where the club barely managed to stay in the Allsvenskan, but Mild remained.

"Ten out of ten goal"

When the match was underway, it looked like it would be another frustrating day at the office for "Blåvitt". For a long time, it was goalless, and thus IFK Göteborg's Allsvenskan goal account remained empty, after 0–4 against Hammarby in the premiere.

This despite the home team dominating the match and creating several fine chances.

But in the 54th minute, Max Fenger stepped forward.

After a rather tangled situation, where Halmstad's goalkeeper Tim Rönning had tried to kick the ball away while lying down and instead hit Fenger's leg, IFK Göteborg took the lead.

It's maybe one out of ten. But it feels like a ten out of ten goal, says Fenger about his goal to Max.

The goal would prove to be decisive. IFK Göteborg won 1–0 and thus took their first win of the season.

We're not good. We're working hard, but the game is going too slow. But we're working hard, that's the most important thing, continues Fenger.

Halmstad, in turn, remains on zero points and zero goals scored (0–5 against Degerfors in the premiere).
