The round of 16 match between Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid went to a penalty shootout.
Julian Álvarez was one of the Atlético players who got to take a shot from eleven meters. However, he slipped at the penalty spot, so the ball hit his right foot first and then his left.
The penalty went in, but was disallowed because Álvarez touched the ball twice.
Now, the International Football Association Board (Ifab) announces that they are changing the rule.
Penalties that go in, but touch the shooter twice, will count.
If a penalty touches the shooter twice but goes outside the goal during a shootout, it is registered as a missed penalty. If it happens during regular playing time, the defending team gets an indirect free kick.
Atlético Madrid lost the round of 16 match after the disputed situation.
