The American national team's head coach Paul Kristofic confirms the news to AP. It will be Vonn's first official competition in almost six years,
The 40-year-old, who announced her plans for a comeback last month, will compete in downhill on Saturday and super-G on Sunday in Copper Mountain, Colorado. It is a competition under the International Ski Federation's (FIS) umbrella, but at a lower level.
With 82 World Cup victories and three Olympic Games gold medals, Vonn has nothing to prove. But to compete in the World Cup, a number of good results at a lower level are required first.
It will be very fun and interesting to see what she can do, says Paul Kristofic.
Lindsey Vonn last competed in February 2019. She ended her career due to major injury problems.
