HV71 goalkeeper Hugo Alnefelt, who is on loan to Helsinki, was struck in the head by a skate on Friday and taken to hospital by ambulance, Expressen reports.

In the match between Helsinki IFK and Ilves Tampere, opposing player Teemu Engberg charged at the Swedish goalkeeper and struck him in the head with his skate, according to Finnish media.

Alnefelt was reportedly left motionless on the ice, carried off on a stretcher and taken to hospital by ambulance.

Later in the evening, Finnish media said the Swede was in "good and stable condition."
