The aim is to further develop the oil sector so that it can continue to create great value, according to Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre.
Gahr Støre says in a press release that oil investments lay the foundation for good jobs across the country, ensure welfare and contribute to the energy security and safety of all of Europe.
Last year, 75 blocks in Norwegian waters were given the go-ahead in the concession round, which was a historical record.
At the same time, the Norwegian government has agreed to resume gas production in the Albuskjell, Vest Ekofisk and Tommeliten Gamma fields that was shut down in the 1980s. The plan is for the fields to operate until 2048.
