The decision was met with 30 seconds of applause from members of the socially conservative ruling party Tisza.

The country's new Prime Minister Péter Magyar has described Sulyok as former Prime Minister Viktor Orbán's "puppet".

The amendment was passed by 139 votes to six. Orbán's nationalist party Fidesz boycotted the vote.
