The announcement gives hope for a solution to the conflict between Hungary and Ukraine, which is currently preventing the EU from approving a new multi-billion dollar loan to Kyiv.
State Secretary Gábor Czepek will "firmly represent Hungary's interests at the negotiating table and hold significant talks with Ukrainian energy authorities, ambassadors in Kyiv and a representative of the European Commission," writes Hungarian government spokesman Zoltán Kovács on X.
Ukraine's Foreign Ministry tells AFP that the delegation "has no official status."
Oil supplies through Ukraine have been halted after Russian attacks on the pipeline, a claim Hungary disputes. Repairs will take at least another three weeks, according to Ukraine.
