The chartered Gothia Cup train was supposed to arrive in Stockholm shortly after 11 pm on Saturday, but did not arrive until 4 am after standing still in Hallsberg for hours, according to Expressen.
"It is of course very sad when there are such major delays, and we have complete sympathy for that. The travel guarantee naturally applies to everyone on these express trains," Daniel Vesterlund Hamrén at SJ's press office told the newspaper.
The problems in Pålsboda meant that trains were forced to take turns running on the route between Hallsberg and Katrineholm at only 40 kilometers per hour, reports P4 Örebro.
