Yabloko, whose slogan is “For peace and freedom,” is the only party in Russia that opposes the war in Ukraine. Despite this, it has been granted permission to run in the parliamentary elections on September 18-20.
But the decision has been appealed by the nationalist party Fatherland (Rodina), and the case will be heard by the country's Supreme Court on Monday.
Regardless of the outcome, Yabloko is not considered to pose any threat to President Vladimir Putin's rule. According to an opinion poll from earlier this year, the party has support of three percent, which is below the threshold to enter the Duma.
