Of the approximately 72,000 migrants estimated to have entered Ceuta in North Africa last week, around 70,000 have now returned to Morocco, Spanish authorities say.
Of those remaining in Ceuta, a large proportion are unaccompanied children or young people. Ceuta leader Juan Jesus Vivas says authorities are taking care of around 1,100 minors despite having capacity for only 90.
This is a completely unsustainable situation, he says.
According to the AFP news agency, conditions are difficult for several of the people who remain in Ceuta, with limited access to food and shelter.
