Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin accused Kyiv of trying to disrupt the Russian election that ends on Sunday and claimed that 450 drones heading toward the capital had been shot down, in what he said was the largest Ukrainian attack on Moscow to date.
A 21-story building was hit, and an oil refinery sustained damage.
The governor of the capital region, Andrei Vorobyov, wrote on Telegram that at least two people have been killed in two different places.
The data on the number of projectiles launched against Russia, over the Black Sea and Russian-occupied areas varies somewhat, with Sobyanin stating 1,600 while the Russian Armed Forces claim to have shot down just over 1,100 drones.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy writes on X that a logistics facility was also hit in the massive attack, which in addition to drones was also carried out with the domestically manufactured Pelikan ballistic missile and the Flamingo cruise missile.
“It's about billions of dollars that keep the war machine going,” Zelenskyy writes, referring to the economic pressure that Kyiv hopes to exert on the Russian economy.
He further writes that a monastery in the Kherson region was hit by a Russian drone this weekend, killing one person.
A mother and her two children were killed, as well as another child, in an attack in the Kyiv region, according to Governor Tymur Tkachenko.
