Further 250 heart-sick children will now be examined since it has been revealed that a doctor in Jönköping incorrectly declared patients healthy. The six children who need to be operated on are considered to be able to be fully restored.

At least 78 heart-sick children have been incorrectly declared healthy by a doctor at Ryhov County Hospital, shows an investigation by the region. Nearly half of them are estimated to need continued follow-up, of which six need to be operated on.

It's not too late to operate and we estimate that everyone will be restored, says Simon Rundqvist, head of operations at the children's clinic in Jönköping, at a press conference.

So far, nearly 500 children who have been declared healthy by the doctor have been examined. Another approximately 250 children, who were previously treated by the doctor, will now be examined.

The doctor in question, who is considered a very skilled pediatric cardiologist, has been continuously informed about the investigation. The person is no longer in Jönköping but now works in Region Skåne.
