Human remains have been found after a villa fire on northern Öland, reports dagensvimmerby.se.

The villa burned down to the foundation on the night of last Friday and the police said afterwards that a woman was suspected to have died in the fire. However, it was not possible to rule out that she was in another location when the fire started.

The fire remains have since been examined by the police's technicians.

They have found human remains and the relatives have been notified. The thesis is that it is the owner they have found, says Håkan Wessung, head of serious crimes at the police in Kalmar, to the newspaper.

Nothing indicates that the fire was arson, but an investigation with the classification of arson murder is still ongoing.
