The clip when Frankfurt celebrated their 3-1 win away against Freiburg went viral quickly. On the way home after the successful league conclusion, the player bus stopped at a gas station.

- We all got off and bought almost everything in the store. It was fun. Then we went out in the evening, says Larsson.

Didn't the police come after you considering the prank with the fire extinguishers?

- No, we managed, says Larsson and laughs.

The national team midfielder can look back on a club season where he doubled the number of playing minutes compared to the season before. He is established in his role and gets great confidence. Something that of course gives positive headlines and raises curiosity among larger clubs.

In the middle of a journey

How it will be with a potential move will have to be a later question. He feels no pressure. Rather, he is eager to see how far it can take with Frankfurt's effort.

- Now we have the Champions League and it will be really fun to continue on the journey the club is on from having been a middle-of-the-table club.

- That's where I have my head now.

In parallel with Larsson's progress, Daniel Svensson has taken off in league competitor Borussia Dortmund. The winger recently signed for four years.

Something Larsson has noted.

- He has been skilled. It's fun to have more Swedes in the league. Maybe we can swap jerseys?

In the fall, both will play in the Champions League – and with the national team in the World Championship qualifiers. Both have, despite their successes in the club teams, something to prove to national team coach Jon Dahl Tomasson.

- I haven't gotten that many chances to translate what I do in the club team to the national team, but I need to take the chance when I get it, says Larsson.

Daniel Svensson has only one national team match.

I wasn't available (injured) in March and nice to be back, be selected and hopefully get as many minutes as possible.

In half a year, he has gone from a foreign pro in the crowd, in Danish Nordsjælland, to a name in a big club.

- It has been eventful, I have gotten great confidence and have nothing to complain about.

He gets goosebumps when he plays at home with the giant "Yellow Wall" behind him.

It's still goosebumps when we step into the warm-up. I still haven't gotten used to it. It's something completely special, says he.

The national team meets Hungary in Budapest on Friday and Algeria in Solna on Tuesday.
