The national football team has been hit by a new setback ahead of the Nations League matches against Slovakia and Azerbaijan.
Hugo Larsson is thigh-injured and will not join the squad that gathers in Spanish Marbella on Monday.
Larsson was forced to break off Sunday's Bundesliga match against Stuttgart in the final stage, and now it is clear that he will miss the national team gathering.
Instead, he is replaced by a 19-year-old debutant – in another position. Malmö FF's centre-back Nils Zätterström is called in and thus makes his national team debut.
A young guy with potential, who we would like to see in this environment, says Tomasson according to Fotbollskanalen.
The 19-year-old comes from a breakthrough season in the Swedish championship team that has not gone unnoticed by Jon Dahl Tomasson.
Zätterström has so far in his blue-and-yellow career only three U19 national team matches and a six-minute-long substitute appearance in the U21 national team.
Sweden will face Slovakia (Saturday) and Azerbaijan (Tuesday). The matches will decide whether the Blue-Yellow team wins the group and advances to the Nations League B-division.
