Ten countries - including the UK, Norway and Denmark - have agreed on joint wind power projects totalling an installed capacity of 100 gigawatts (GW) in the North Sea, Reuters reports.

An agreement is to be signed at an offshore wind energy summit in Hamburg, Germany, on Monday, according to the news agency's sources in the British government.

The installed capacity of Swedish wind power – both onshore and offshore – amounted to 17 GW at the beginning of 2025, according to industry statistics. The EU has a goal of reaching up to 300 GW of offshore wind power by 2050.

According to Reuters sources, other countries involved in the agreement to be signed in Hamburg include Iceland and the EU countries Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland, Luxembourg and the Netherlands.
