After a short break, homeowners can once again apply for support for energy efficiency measures. From September 1, you can apply for the new, partially redesigned "villaeffekten" support following a previous government decision.
Who can apply?
You must be the owner, alone or together with others, of the house, which must not be connected to the district heating network and must be heated by electricity or gas. The house must also have a value year before 1990, meaning it must have been mainly built before that year.
It must also be your permanent residence. You cannot apply for a holiday home.
What can I get the grant for?
Additional insulation, draught-proofing, additional glazing or replacement of windows or doors. Measures for the heating system, installing a pellet boiler, heat pump, but not an air source heat pump, which is the most common type of heat pump. It is also possible to get support for connection to the district heating network.
When do I have to apply?
The application opens on September 1. Applications must be submitted no later than 6 months after the work has begun. It is also possible to apply for measures that began after October 17, 2025, in which case the application must be submitted no later than February 28, 2027.
How much do I get?
30 percent of the material cost. The maximum you can get is SEK 60,000, i.e. for material purchases worth SEK 200,000. The support only applies to material costs. You can apply twice, but the maximum is still SEK 60,000. It can be combined with the tax deduction, which then applies to labour costs.
Support of less than SEK 10,000, i.e. material costs of SEK 33,300, will not be paid.
When will I get the money?
After the measures are completed.
Where do I search?
At the county administrative board in the county where the house is located. You must then also apply for the actual payment when the measure is completed. More information is available on the National Board of Housing, Building and Planning's website.
How long does the support last?
The government's proposal concerns the period up to and including 2030. There is 300 million kronor allocated per year for the support. Applications are processed in order of priority. 300 million is enough for 5,000 houses per year, if everyone were to apply for the maximum amount.
