Region Gävleborg is calling for a series of measures to strengthen safety in ambulance operations after the high-profile murder of an ambulance paramedic last fall, P4 Gävleborg reports.

For example, we are looking at the possibility of obtaining information about the patient's medical record when we go out on assignments, says Liselott Sjöqvist, operations manager for emergency and ambulance care, to Arbetarbladet.

In addition, staff will be trained in a low-arousal approach and a new method for assessing the risk of violence during ambulance contacts will be introduced.

The background is that an ambulance paramedic in Harmånger in Nordanstig municipality was stabbed to death by a person who had called for help at the end of September. The 26-year-old perpetrator was sentenced to 18 years in prison for the murder.
