Houthi Attacks Target Presidential Palace and Government Buildings in Aden, Killing at Least Four

The Iran-backed Houthi movement is attacking the presidential palace and several government buildings in Aden, Yemen. At least four people have been killed in the attacks, which also targeted military sites.

At least six explosions rocked the coastal city of Aden in southwestern Yemen on Thursday. The Houthi movement said two missiles had hit their targets and that the headquarters of the Saudi-led force operating in Yemen had also been attacked.

Aden serves as the stronghold of the internationally recognized government after the Iran-backed Houthi movement seized the capital, Sanaa. The al-Maashiq Presidential Palace is the headquarters of the Yemeni government, and aides said Yemeni Prime Minister Shaya Mohsin al-Zindani was in the palace at the time of the attack.

The city on the Gulf of Aden has been partially spared from the escalating fighting in Yemen and Saudi Arabia during the ongoing war in the region. Extensive attacks have been directed, among other places, at the Saudi capital, Riyadh, and its international airport.

The Saudi-led military coalition has, in turn, repeatedly attacked Houthi targets in Yemen.
