Houthi spokesman Yahya Saree says in a video statement that the ban on all shipping to Saudi Arabia is a response to the Saudi blockade of all Houthi-controlled ports and airports.
In addition, he says, the blockade is a reaction to Saudi Arabia's attack on the airport in Yemen's capital Sanaa last week. The Houthi movement then shelled an airport in Abha in southern Saudi Arabia in response.
