Prime Minister Andy Burnham says the British Air Force will help the Saudis refuel military aircraft in the air.
The announcement comes on the same day as reports that US President Donald Trump did not want to promise any military support to Yemen's Saudi-backed government, which Yemen's leader requested in a phone call, according to a source cited by AFP.
The Iran-backed Houthi movement, which controls large areas of Yemen, has in recent days launched several attacks on targets in US ally Saudi Arabia and is threatening Saudi ships trying to get out of the Red Sea, a transport route that has become increasingly important as the Strait of Hormuz is blocked.
