The Iran-backed movement said it had fired a ballistic missile in a “precise” attack on the airport, disrupting air traffic. Earlier in the night, the Saudi-led coalition fighting the Houthis said it had shot down a missile north of Riyadh.
According to government-run media in Yemen, an airport in Aden, where the internationally recognized Yemeni government is based, was also attacked by the Houthis with rockets and drones. The Houthi movement claims to have attacked a military facility near the airport.
A fragile ceasefire between the Houthi movement and Yemen's internationally recognized government, which is militarily supported by Saudi Arabia, collapsed in July. The civil war has been going on for more than a decade.
