Next year, the construction market will turn upwards, albeit from low levels. New homes and railways are on the construction list.

After several weak construction years, the construction industry is sensing an improvement next year, "mainly thanks to the upturn in residential construction and increased investment in facilities, particularly in energy and rail-bound infrastructure", writes the industry organization Byggföretagen in a new report.

This year, the total construction investments will decrease again, two percent minus according to an updated forecast. But next year it will be plus four percent, where residential construction after several unusually weak years will increase by eleven percent.

"After having continuously decreased for eleven quarters in a row, an increase of two percent was noted during the second quarter of the year and most things indicate that a recovery (of residential construction) has begun", writes Byggföretagen.

It is expected to result in the employment rate within the construction industry also turning up somewhat next year, to around 370,000 employees.
