According to the proposal, $60 billion will go to the Pentagon, $13 billion to “national security needs,” $12 billion to farmers struggling with Trump’s tariffs, and $10 billion to voting rights changes.

The budget proposal met opposition from Democrats, who all voted against it, as did a number of Republicans.

The vote ended with 216 votes in favor and 214 against.

The proposal must be approved by the US Senate, where it is expected to face opposition. A vote could be delayed until September.

The US war against Iran has so far cost the equivalent of SEK 364 billion, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said at a Senate hearing on Tuesday.
