The number of rented hotel rooms decreased in April by just over three percent, while hotel prices fell by seven percent, according to figures from the industry organization Visita.
The decline is mainly explained by an Easter effect, according to Visita.
"Normally, demand decreases during the Easter holidays and this year they fell entirely in April, while they fell partially in March last year," it writes in a press release.
Among metropolitan regions, the decreased demand is most noticeable in Malmö with a decrease of five percent, which can be compared to four percent in Stockholm and two percent in Gothenburg.
