"There has been enormous demand, and it has come from all sorts of directions," Helga Maria Albertsdóttir, CEO of the Sky Lagoon spa in Reykjavik, told the newspaper.

Guests at Sky Lagoon will be able to view the solar eclipse from the resort's geothermal pools.

A room in Reykjavik on Thursday night costs an average of over $1,000, an increase of 140 percent compared with the same date in 2025.

Spain's tourism industry has been hit hard by the summer fires, but some northern cities are now facing a rush. In A Coruña, hotel prices have doubled, while prices in Bilbao and Santiago de Compostela have increased by 59 and 31 percent respectively.

In parts of Spain, across the Atlantic and Iceland, the solar eclipse will be total, as the moon covers the entire sun.
