The HBO Max series “The Pitt” has run for two seasons and is set in a busy emergency room. As a newcomer last year, it won awards for best drama series and best actor for Noah Wyle. He is also nominated this year, as is his colleague Katherine LaNasa. The series also takes four of the seven nominations in the category of best supporting actress.

For the acclaimed "Hacks" - which ended after five seasons - Jean Smart is nominated for best actress in a comedy series. She has won the award in all four previous seasons and, according to AP, it would be surprising if she didn’t win again in September.

The late film director and actor Rob Reiner is nominated for an Emmy for the eighth time for his guest role as Albert Schnurr in the fourth season of “The Bear.”

Reiner was found stabbed to death along with his wife Michele Singer Reiner in December. The couple's son Nick Reiner is suspected, but he denies any wrongdoing.
