TV4 Nyheterna reports that the Dental and Pharmaceutical Benefits Agency, the authority that decides which medicines should be subsidized in Sweden, wanted the manufacturer to lower the price, but instead the price has been raised.
TLV is pushing down the prices of medicines, which means that companies choose to move production to other countries where they can make more money, says gynecologist and researcher Helena Kopp Kallner, calling the decision "a disaster for Swedish women."
The spray has been removed from subsidy coverage in large parts of the country, but the company has said that when the preparation is no longer subsidized by the state it will become more readily available.
