A woman and a child were found dead in their home in Hörby after the school raised the alarm. Right now there is no indication that the municipality could have done anything differently, according to municipal director Linda Strand. But we need to continue investigating it, because many people are still in shock. Going into details immediately can be difficult.

According to Strand, there is currently nothing to indicate that the municipality was aware of any signs of concern.

"For many, it has been a question of whether we have missed something. How could something like this happen? To this day, there is nothing to indicate that Hörby Municipality could have done anything differently," she says at a press conference.

Questions without answers

Outside the municipal building, the flag flies at half-mast. Strand says that the small community in Skåne is going through a grieving process and that there are still several question marks.

We must accept that we cannot find out everything.

The woman worked in the municipality and the child, who was under 15, was a student at a school in the municipality. They were active in community life and knew many people in the area.

When the child did not come to school on Tuesday morning, the police were contacted, which is routine according to Strand. The woman and the child were found in the home.

The investigation continues

A man was arrested the same day and taken into custody, but he was released on Thursday and is no longer a suspect. After the picture has become clearer, suspicions are instead directed at the deceased woman.

"That doesn't mean that's the case. At the moment, the circumstances of the case suggest that the suspicions are directed against her," says prosecutor Josefin Sävlund.

The investigation is not yet completed.

There are certain additional investigative measures that need to be taken, including the forensic investigation, says Sävlund.
