One of Hong Kong's last opposition parties will be dissolved, the party LSD (United social democrats) announced on Friday.
The party has been considered one of the most radical factions in Hong Kong's pro-democratic movement. However, its decline was accelerated by the security law introduced by Beijing in 2020, which led to extensive, and sometimes violent, pro-democratic protests.
When the party was at its largest, they had three seats in Hong Kong's parliament. LSD was founded in 2006 but will not see its 20th anniversary, the party reports.
"We will not survive until that day and will announce our dissolution", says the party's representative.
