A man who worked in home care in a municipality in southern Norrland is sentenced to three years and four months in prison for having raped a demented woman in her 80s, reports Expressen. The man, who is in his 65s, is also to pay damages to the woman of 270,000 kronor.
The man is said to have gone home to the woman during a free evening in March this year, drunk alcohol and raped the woman in her bed, which SVT Västernorrland previously reported on. He denies the crime and claims that the intercourse was mutual, something that according to the court does not apply.
The victim's daughter-in-law is said to have gone to the woman after sensing something was wrong and then stopped the assault. In interrogations, the demented woman has said that she does not remember much of the incident, but that she remembers that the man in question was at her home and assaulted her. The man has been accused of similar crimes at three other workplaces.
