The city of Malmö filed a police report on March 13, more than a month after the suspected rape and more than two weeks after the incident came to the attention of the home services.
"As I understand it, the city of Malmö first conducted a small internal preliminary investigation, you could say. I have requested to be part of it," prosecutor Veronika Edvinsson tells the newspaper.
The police investigation is made more difficult when the suspect has already been asked questions about the incident by municipal officials, the prosecutor points out. The delay in reporting the crime has also meant that the suspected victim has not received support from the plaintiff's attorney from the start.
