Hollywood stars flee the fire in LA

More and more Hollywood stars and Swedish celebrities are forced to flee as the fire spreads in Los Angeles. The podcaster and author Sigge Eklund tells Ekot that he doesn't even know if his house in Pacific Palisades is still standing.

The last map you can see on the fire department's website has our neighbor's house on fire, just ten meters from ours, which makes you a bit pessimistic, says Eklund to the radio.

Eklund and his family – including the dog he brought with him from the house in a hurry – are now safe at a hotel in Santa Monica.

According to TMZ, actors such as Ben Affleck, Tom Hanks, Reese Witherspoon, Eugene Levy, and film director Steven Spielberg have also had to leave their homes and flee the fire.

Reality TV personalities Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag saw their house burn down to the ground.

"Guardian angels outside our house"

Mark Hamill, who played Luke Skywalker in "Star Wars", TV star Mandy Moore, and Swedish reality profile Gunilla Persson have also had to evacuate their homes.

I believe in God and Jesus, and we feel very great comfort that there will be guardian angels outside our house until tomorrow when the storm is over, says Persson to TV4.

Mandy Moore fled with her children and pets.

"Trying to protect the children from the enormous sorrow and worry I feel. Praying for everyone in our beautiful city", she writes on Instagram and adds that she does not know if their home has survived the flames.

Cancelled events

The fire also has consequences for several events in the celebrity-filled city. For example, the organizer of the Critics Choice Awards gala announces that it is cancelled, reports AFP. The gala was to take place on Sunday.

The premieres of the new TV series "The Pitt" and the Robbie Williams film "Better man" have also been cancelled. Netflix also cancelled a press conference for the Golden Globe winner "Emilia Pérez".
