Pearce was convicted on Wednesday of the murders of model Christy Giles and architect Hilda Marcela Cabrales-Arzola in 2021. The women died of fentanyl overdoses after Pearce, according to prosecutors, provided them with drugs during a night of partying in Los Angeles.
He was also convicted of assaulting several other women between 2007 and 2021, including rape and other acts of sexual violence. Since his arrest, seven women have come forward with new rape allegations.
District Attorney Nathan J Hochman called the verdict “long-awaited justice” and emphasized that the cases illustrate the devastation caused by fentanyl.
Pearce's co-defendant Brant Osborn is scheduled to go on trial in November.
