H&M Website and App Back Online After Maintenance Outage

Clothing giant H&M's website and app are back up and running after an outage this morning. The company said it was caused by maintenance work, not an external influence.

For a short time on Wednesday morning, visitors were greeted with the message: “Due to maintenance, hm.com is currently unavailable. Please try again in a moment.” By lunchtime, however, both the app and website were back up and running.

In a written response to Bloomberg, H&M said the outage was not caused by an external influence but by a routine update that took longer than expected. Payment functions in physical stores were also unaffected.

Earlier this week, the British newspaper The Times reported that the Swedish clothing giant had suffered a hacker attack similar to one suffered by fellow retailer Asos. However, H&M denied the report to TT.
