Everton's Idrissa Gana Gueye gave teammate Michael Keane a slap in the face – and was sent off in the away game against Manchester United. With ten men, Everton still managed to win 1-0.

The match at Old Trafford was not even fifteen minutes old when Gueye and Keane began to argue after a misunderstanding. The duo gesticulated angrily at each other and before the scuffle was over, Gueye had punched Keane in the face.

Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford tried to intervene, but by then it was too late. The referee saw the blow and gave the Senegalese what could very well be the strangest red card in Premier League football this season.

After the sending off, Everton had to continue with ten men, but still managed to take the lead through Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall in the 29th minute.

It was the winning goal, after Pickford scored a goal for the home team, who were booed when the referee blew the whistle for the match.

Both Manchester United and Everton have 18 points after twelve matches, tenth and eleventh respectively in the middle of the table.
