Tiffany Persson and firefighter Kajan have reached a new audience via Youtube and social media. Now the comedy duo Anders Jansson and Johan Wester will take the motley cast of characters from the jubilant TV success "Hipp hipp!" on tour.

It will be high recognition, but a completely new material, says Anders Jansson.

Time and time again, they have been asked when it's time for a sequel to "Hipp hipp!", which premiered on SVT in 2001. And the idea of letting the popular characters meet a new era has been growing for a long time. Next autumn is the 25th anniversary - then it's time.

The thing is that we have never ended it. So we have always felt that sometime there will be an opportunity, says Johan Wester.

"Are curious"

They have known each other since high school and socialize privately, but now it's the first time since 2020 that they are entering a joint production.

— In the same way that it's a joy to get to work together again, it's also a joy to revisit these characters. Because we are curious: What are these figures now? It's not static, says Johan Wester.

Just like themselves, the characters have gotten a few years older. They have gone through covid, tested dating apps and learned to handle social media.

They are moving in our society, now. We will joke about all generations: X, Y, Z, millennials - all of them. We make fun of everyone, says Anders Jansson.

"A damn tough process"

"Hipp hipp live" premieres in September next year, but the work is already underway - an intense, relentless brainstorming.

Since we have known each other for so long, we have a kind of our own language. You don't need to explain that much, you can move pretty quickly forward, says Anders Jansson.

— It's an incredible strength, because what we do is that we constantly use each other as catalysts, but also as critics. It's a damn tough process and it took some time to realize that it's not something you can take for granted, says Johan Wester.

If this is a farewell tour or the beginning of a new "Hipp hipp" era, they can't quite answer. But they note that they have a lot of ammo left and are open to what can happen.

— The fun thing is to show that we are best live, says Anders Jansson.
