The centre is run by the non-profit association Hilma af Klint's studio which is showing the exhibition "A place for Hilma af Klint" – about the artist and about her project "The Temple" which she never could realize.
"It is touching that the first place dedicated to her is an old vicarage, as the spiritual aspect was so crucial for her work", says Hedvig Ersman, the association's chairman in a press release.
Next year, the centre will launch a programme for artist residencies and the hope is to also be able to create a copy of Hilma af Klint's studio in the future.
Hilma af Klint lived on Adelsö as a child. She was a pioneer in abstract art and broke through posthumously.
